A Letter To The Sandy Hook Angels...

The whole world is in a state of shock right now. Halfway around the world, more than twenty lives were brutally taken. What’s even more painful about it is that twenty of those belong to young, beautiful souls... who will never come home to their families again.

This letter is for all of them...

Dear Sandy Hook Angels,

You don’t know me. And you never will. I don’t know each one of your names too, but it doesn’t matter. All of you are Angels now. And all of you will find your rightful place in Heaven. No more pain. No more hunger. No more tears. And best of all, no more homework!

What happened to all of you was very unfortunate. It was totally uncalled for. There is no valid reason in this world for anyone to take somebody else's life. None at all.

There was so much in store for you in the future, Little Ones. So much laughter, so much adventures, so much joys and triumphs, and even so much chances to make mistakes... Mistakes that will make you stronger. Mistakes that you will surely learn from and make you a better person. I guess that's all gone now...

I salute you, the Brave Ones, who stood up and never left the children when the world around you was slowly being shattered. I was also a teacher once, and I will forever be proud of you. You showed the world that being a Teacher is more than just a job, more than a profession. It is a way of life. It is living. And even dying, for what your mind, your heart, and your soul truly believes in.

I pray that your journey to Heaven be a pleasant one. I pray that during your trip, all the pain will be taken away, and be replaced by warmth and comfort. I am also praying for the same thing for your families. Someday, they will also be at peace, knowing that all of you are in a better place now.

We will always be grateful for the lessons that we're hoping to learn from all of these.

Dear Universe, please heal our broken world.

  1. I teach 6-year-olds at my school here in South Korea, and it really made me sad to think of that happening to my students. It's an even worse feeling for me because I teach small groups (not big classes), so I grow really attached to them. I think a special place in Hell is reserved just for people like that shooter.

    1. Yeah. I'm sure Mimi can relate too. Her former students were also my former students... The Newton shooting is really a huge nightmare... :(
